Join us for an afternoon filled with horns, fur, fangs, and folklore as we create our own Krampus masks to wear at RVA Krampusnaught, Richmond’s Annual Yuletide Monsters Parade in Carytown, or at a Krampus celebration in your own hometown.
Krampus is a horned figure from Alpine folklore who traditionally accompanies St. Nicholas during the Christmas season. While St. Nicholas rewards good behavior, Krampus serves as his darker counterpart, frightening or scolding those who have misbehaved. Krampusnacht celebrates this darker side of the holiday season through costumes, masks, parades, and a little festive fright.

All mask-making materials are provided. Feel free to bring any special materials, embellishments, horns, fur, baubles, or other strange treasures you'd like to incorporate into your creation.
Planning to join the Richmond parade? The 14th Annual Yuletide Monsters Parade takes place in Carytown. Participants gather at Aquarian Bookshop on Thompson Street at 5:30 PM for the rules, a costume contest, and festivities before heading down Carytown. There will also be treats from Maria’s Apple Cider Donuts, tarot readings by Lainie, and last-minute costume pieces from The Crafty Hobbit. All ages are welcome. Be sure to review the parade’s participation rules before joining.
